Description
Blink-182’s Adam’s Song has a pretty unexpected origin—it was named after a Mr. Show with Bob and David sketch. In the sketch, a fictional metal band called Titannica writes a song that causes a fan named Adam to do something drastic. He survives but ends up severely disfigured. The band visits him in the hospital, but once they realize they’ll have to bring him along on tour, they write a follow-up song to try to get rid of him. That song? Try Again (Adam’s Song).
Mark Hoppus, a fan of Mr. Show, took the name for Blink-182’s song, but while the sketch was a dark joke, Adam’s Song ended up being one of the band’s most serious and personal tracks.
