Once called "The Young Sinatra" and "Golden Boy",
as of this posting, Francis Thomas Avallone, aka
Frankie Avalon, will be 85-years-old on Sept. 18th.
When he was 12, Frankie made a national TV debut
by playing trumpet on the Christmas episode of
Jackie Gleason's DUMONT Network TV variety show.
In 1954, he trumpeted on RCA's "X" label singles.
His first #1 hit, "Venus" held BILLBOARD's top spot
five straight weeks and was their #4 song of 1959.
