The band were great but went on late.
We ran like cheetahs on the plain,
only to see our train’s tail lights
blur with distance, blur with rain

For twelve dark and sarcastic miles
our road followed the railway line,
but we saw that band when they were
killing it and still unsigned.

I woke up on the hallway floor
I woke still singing that last song.
Cornflakes, a quick cat chat, while I
jerked my dirty work clothes on.

I wonder why I buy returns?
I stick them on my bedroom wall
Can’t the last train be late for once?
All day trains stall all day crawl

One night we walked three miles before
we saw a sign that made us moan.
You see, we’d walked those miles the not
right way on the right road home.
