Description
In about 1712, Joseph Addison wrote this poem entitled "God's Servants Safe By Sea or Land," where he expresses his gratitude to God for deliverance from "dangers, fears, and death." It would be interesting to know what brought on this thanksgiving. Psalm 65:1-2 says, "Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. You who answer prayer, to you all people will come." How will you praise God and fulfill your vows to him?
From all my griefs and fears, O Lord,
Thy mercy sets me free.
Whilst in the confidence of prayer
My heart takes hold on thee.
