Description
Linsey Alexander was born to sharecroppers in Holy Spring, Mississippi, moved to Chicago at age 12, where he got his first guitar with a family friend. After learning the rudiments of the blues by playing and vocalizing on the recordings of Little Milton and BB King (who also traveled to Tennessee from the Delta), he saved the money to travel to Chicago in the late 1950s, and never looked back. . While working in a juke-joint in the legendary south of the city, he used to have the opportunity to tour with big blues names like Buddy Guy and Magic Slim, but Alexander preferred to stick with his own style. Linsey Alexander is a true bluesman, a great artist and a mentor to many. Nicknamed the Hoochie Man, Alexander is a 78-year-old South Side ax bearer, whose biography is based on a stereotyped archetype. He already has three albums on Delmark. His room was recorded during two live shows at Chicago's legendary blues club, Rosa's Lounge. Continuing the Delmark legacy of great live recordings, this album "Live at Rosa's" will give Linsey the respect he deserves as an artist and mentor of many younger musicians. Linsey Alexander's "Live at Rosa's" is perfectly suited for the times we are in. For postwar Chicago blues fans, it's a comfortable blanket. No surprises, no attempts to send envelopes. Only solid South Side Chicago blues recorded beautifully by the record label Windy City that hasn't wavered in its mission since Bob Koester founded it in 1953. "Live at Rosa's" was recorded live, but there is almost no response from the public in the mix, including Freddie King's "Did you ever love a woman", Latimore's "Somethin '' Bout 'Cha" and Ships On The Ocean ", by Jr. Wells. He mixes it with his own originals that fit comfortably between the covers:" My days are so long "," I have a woman "(not to be confused with Ray Charles 'classic)," Goin' Out Walking "," Snowing "In Chicago" and "Going back to my old time". “Linsey Alexander Live at Rosa's ”, the Delmark team of Julia Miller, Elbio Barilari and Steve Wagner sought the alloy of a modern and updated sound with a classic concept, energy and warmth that conveys the that Linsey and his band drop the stage. You can hear in Alexander's deep, rich and courageous vocals that he knows what he's singing; that he's been carrying this song in his soul for decades. So if you're watching the terrified news with with every new twist of horror, relax with this familiar and new recording Linsey Alexander is one of the last representatives of a generation that will be part of our fondest memories. Too good !!!
