Description
Track 4 from the self-titled debut album by Myra.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Mexican-American singer Mayra Ambriz, better known by her stage name Myra, began singing professionally at the age of 9. In 1997, she would independently release her first album, "Mensajera del Amór". A few years later, she would sign a deal with Walt Disney Records, making her the first Latina artist signed to the label. She would appear on multiple music compilations and movie soundtracks for the company, most notably for films such as "The Princess Diaries" and "Recess: School's Out", before releasing her debut album, which saw moderate success, but after this, she would take a break from music to focus on her education. Myra is still active in music, with her most recent single "LA LLAVE" being released in 2022.
Released as her major-label debut, "Myra" would hit store shelves in June of 2001, where it was heavily promoted through the clothing store chain Limited Too. Along with this, Myra would also tour and make TV appearances to promote the album. The album would receive generally favorable reviews from critics and would peak at #47 on the US Billboard Top Heatseekers album chart. A year later, the album would be reissued as "Myra+Me" in Japan, which featured 2 new songs along with several song remixes. A Spanish version of the album titled "Milagros" would also be released.
Often regarded as Myra's signature song, "Miracles Happen (When You Believe)" would famously be featured in the Disney film "The Princess Diaries" and its accompanying soundtrack. The song was also recorded in Spanish under the title "Siempre Hay Milagros". The song would chart at #88 in Australia and was later nominated at the 2002 ALMA Awards for "Outstanding Song in a Motion Picture Soundtrack".
