I wrote New Song On The Radio in 1984. It was recorded by other people as well as myself, but I was never comfortable with the way I sang it. One day in 2011 after finishing some other work in the studio, I asked Mike if he would sing it for me. He listened a couple of times, grabbed the lyrics, and sang it into a Sure SM58 that was there. I should’ve put him in the booth with a better mic, but it was only a new demo at this point with me playing everything to a drum click. Later, under the same sort of circumstances, Adam David played drums and JimyC Christakos played piano on the song. Then it was all lost for years on a hard drive that collapsed.
In 2024 I found someone who was able to retrieve the files on the damaged hard drive and I found this song, among other treasures. I asked Sean Burns to play bass, and found plug ins to remove room noise. I added some harmonica, but later removed it. That’s why you see it in the credits. With Lori’s approval, I give you New Song on the Radio with Mike Burns on vocals.
