Nice rag from the "King of Ragtime" Scott Joplin. I think this one deserves more attention than it gets, it's uncomplicated and has a nice concluding (D) strain. Here's how Tom Brier plays it:

"The Strenuous Life" was the name of a speech given by then New York governor Theodore Roosevelt in 1899, who the following year was chosen to be vice president of the United States and soon ascended to the presidency after the assassination of William McKinley. It advocated the need for effort and toil instead of a life of ease.
There were two other compositions from 1902 titled "Strenuous Life", both marches, one by Abe Holzmann and one by William J. Short. Thank you to JohnJ1995 for this info.
