Description
Winter Wonderland is a romantic song that was first composed in 1934 by Felix Bernard (1897-1944). Harry Connick, Jr. (b. 1967) arranged a rhythmic, New Orleans inspired version for the movie When Harry Met Sally in 1989. He creates a percussive quality in the left hand with clusters of notes played with the palm of the hand. The right hand utilizes frequent tremolos, which imitate sleigh bells ringing merrily through the snowy countryside. Connick played the keyboards from a young age, performing Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto at the age of 9 and doing his first recording with a local jazz band at the age of 10. He is still active as a singer, pianist, composer, actor, and television host.
